Wooden flooring and interior style – guide
Choosing wooden flooring is a decision for years. You should not follow current trends only to regret your choice after a few years.
Flooring and interior style
When designing a house or apartment, you follow a specific style. The harmony of the arrangement largely depends on the flooring.

Which flooring for Scandinavian style?
In Scandinavian interiors, rooms are large and spacious – here Diamett wooden flooring in large dimensions (e.g. 27 cm width and 250 cm length) in brightening tones works best. In addition to whitewashed flooring, you can use oiled floors, lacquered floors slightly greyed with a hint of warm brown. An interesting choice is lacquered wooden flooring with a raw wood effect.
Classic style – which flooring?
In classic interiors, light browns often dominate, so a good choice is lacquered wooden flooring (with natural, non-tinted finishes) made of oak or ash. Single-strip lacquered or oiled boards should be sized according to the room – the smaller the room, the smaller the boards. Herringbone flooring by Diamett will also emphasise a timeless classic style.

Which flooring for rustic style?
Rustic style, often referred to as countryside style, is best highlighted by oiled wooden flooring – long and wide boards – as well as aged lacquered floors from Diamett, with visible natural features such as knots, grain, and sun marks. Natural or darker tones can be used depending on available light and room size.
Loft / industrial style – which flooring?
The loft style, inspired by old factories, originated in the USA in the 1950s. Wooden boards should be grey or black stained. Walnut or smoked oak are also great choices that match the overall design. Industrial-style floors can also be aged and brushed.
Here, we also recommend large-format Diamett wooden floorboards.

Eclectic style and wooden flooring
This is a solution for people who… cannot decide on one style – a mix of everything! Different colours, contrasts, and seemingly mismatched materials. However, there is method in this madness – properly selected elements can create a cohesive and interesting whole. Still, eclectic style requires a strong sense of taste, as it balances between stylish chaos and kitsch. Well-chosen lacquered or oiled wooden flooring can introduce order and harmony into an eclectic interior.
Lacquered or oiled flooring – what to choose?
So which type of floor finishing should you choose? If you have small children or pets and your home experiences intensive daily use, lacquered flooring is the better option due to its higher resistance to damage. On the other hand, for those who prioritise aesthetics and avoid heavy usage, oiled flooring is an excellent choice as it enhances the colour and grain of the wood.
