Wood Grades – Diamett

This is the place where you can explore the different wood grades available in the Diamett range. We offer a wide selection of grades to meet various needs and preferences. Wood grading refers to the way boards are selected according to the aesthetic features of their surface. This classification gives you the opportunity to make an informed choice.

AB

This grade guarantees the highest quality. Our AB grade boards are characterised by an excellent finish, are almost free of defects, and feature a uniform, beautiful wood texture.

Permitted: pin knots and healthy sound knots up to 10 mm, as well as medullary rays.

Not permitted: black knots and knot holes, sapwood, ring shakes and surface cracks, cracks at the ends of boards.

ABC

ABC grade floors are an excellent choice for those who value both refined elegance and the natural charm of wood.

Permitted: healthy sound knots and naturally cracked knots up to 30 mm – filled with filler; black knots up to 20 mm; surface cracks with a maximum width of 1 mm and a length of up to 20 mm – filled with filler; the presence of repairs, plugs, and defects up to 4 mm wide and 30 mm long, as well as twisted medullary rays.

Not permitted: ring shakes.

ABCD

This is a combination of AB grade and CD grade. These grades combine elegance with natural character. Boards in these grades preserve natural wood features such as knots and irregularities, while still maintaining aesthetic appeal.

CD

Boards in this grade retain many characteristics of raw wood, thanks to the varied colour and structure of the wood.

Permitted: healthy naturally cracked knots filled with filler up to a maximum diameter of 50 mm; black knots and holes left by fallen knots – filled with filler up to a maximum diameter of 30 mm; end cracks up to 100 mm long and 6 mm wide, and surface cracks up to 50 mm long and 4 mm wide – all cracks filled with filler. Repairs, plugs, and defects up to 10 mm wide and 100 mm long are permitted. External and internal sapwood, medullary rays, and heartwood without transverse or radial cracks are also permitted.

DE

This is a board grade with an interesting and unique character, where natural features and wood texture play a key role. Permitted: healthy naturally cracked knots filled with filler up to a maximum diameter of 60 mm; black knots and holes left by fallen knots – filled with filler up to a maximum diameter of 40 mm.

Boards in this grade may have end cracks up to 200 mm long and 15 mm wide, as well as surface cracks up to 200 mm long and 8 mm wide – all cracks filled with filler. Repairs, plugs, and defects up to 20 mm wide and 200 mm long are permitted. External and internal sapwood, twisted medullary rays, and heartwood with transverse and radial cracks filled with filler are also allowed.
